As the Festival Musica 2015 gets underway, audiences eagerly await performances of Jonathan Harvey’s Tombeau de Messiaen and Pre-echo for Jean-Guihen.
On the 24th September, Harvey’s Tombeau de Messiaen will take to the stage in an evening performance by Wilhem Lacthoumia. The concert, which will feature works by the likes of Xenakis and Wolf to Wagner, Liszt and Pesson, will open with Jonathan Harvey’s “remarkable” and iconic work for solo piano and digital audio tape. The concert begins at 18.30.
The chance to hear more of Harvey’s acclaimed music arrives on the 27th September, 11am, where Jean-Guihen Queyras performs Pre-echo for Jean-Guihen. The work for solo cello, is the opening piece of the recital, and will sit alongside repertoire by composers as diverse as Bach, Nodaïra and Kurtág.
