This evening Strasbourg played host to Jonathan Harvey’s Tombeau de Messiaen, as Wilhem Latchoumia excited audiences with a performance of the composer’s iconic and pioneering work for solo piano and electronics. Harvey’s homage to the French composer has been described as “remarkable” developing on “Messiaen’s already lavish colour spectrum into another dimension”.
As the Festival Musica 2015 moves into the weekend, audiences can continue to hear Jonathan Harvey’s beautiful musical output on Sunday 27th September 2015. Harvey’s work for solo cello, ‘Pre-echo for Jean-Guihen’, is to be performed by Jean-Guihen Queyras and will further showcase the mastery of Harvey as a composer of chamber music.
