The Nieuw Ensemble and Atlas Ensemble will perform ‘Scena’ by Jonathan Harvey as part of the Shanghai Spring Festival next Thursday, 8th May 2014.

‘Scena’ was composed in 1992 and is for violin and a chamber ensemble of 9 players. In a review of the ‘Jonathan Harvey: Speakings; Jubilus; Scena (Layton/Dickinson/BBC Scottish SO/Volkov)’ recording, the Guardian describes how the piece “swoops and swoons like an operatic diva”.
